You can experience enlightenment right now. Look around you in this moment. Feel the tidal wave of its ordinariness. Soak in the splendor of mundaneness. Today is just another day, but that feeling of ordinary-ness itself is an extraordinary feeling, not because it gets you to something else, but because sitting in the moment, you are totally complete.
When you’re totally complete, you don’t need anything else. Sitting in reality instead of in your head, you step into the moment, and out of your thoughts. Without thought, there is pure awareness of the moment. This pure awareness is enlightenment.
Enlightenment is in every moment. To think that enlightenment could be a one-and-done procedure is a trap of dualist thinking: you either have it or you don’t. While it’s true that flashes of insight can be important, the work never stops. Every moment is another chance to “have” enlightenment.
Once you realize this fact, every moment becomes a chance to experience enlightenment. Focus on the details from your world and you’ll silence your thoughts. Silence your thoughts, moment to moment. In return, you’ll meet the world, every second of the day, for the very first time.
